What to Know About Sarasota's Intracoastal Waterway

Where is the Intracoastal Waterway in FL?
The Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway (AICW) begins in Florida near St. Marys River at the Florida/Georgia state line. You travel in a south-south easterly direction from there and transition to a southwesterly course as you pass through the Government Cut of Miami.

Navigating Sarasota Bay
The Sarasota County Water Atlas is an interactive tool lets you view mapped information about water resources as well as recreation, planning and infrastructure, habitats, and aerial imagery. You can also create and print your own custom maps.
Sarasota is located on the southwestern coast of Florida between the southern end of Tampa Bay to north of Fort Myers. The islands separating Sarasota Bay from the Gulf are known as keys and include Lido Key and Siesta Key, which are famous for the quality of their sandy beaches.
